Measurements of residual thicknesses

The participants of the fishing cluster also perform the service of measuring the residual thicknesses of ship hull structures with an ultrasonic thickness gauge.

According to the rules of classification societies, all vessels must undergo hull structure inspections to determine the technical condition of the hull. Based on the results of this survey, it is concluded that repairs are necessary.

Measurements of residual thicknesses are carried out by ultrasonic thickness measurement. This technique allows, depending on the speed and time of passage of ultrasonic signals through the material, to determine the thickness of the measured object with a high level of accuracy, without causing any damage to it.
